Hello, I am Sam.
Person-centered Licensed Therapist, Coach and life long-learner.
My Approach
Collaborative
I believe both therapy and coaching are built on a collaborative relationship. You are the expert on your own life. My role is to meet you with empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuine curiosity while offering insight, support, and practical strategies along the way. Together, we work toward the goals, growth, recovery, or outcomes that are meaningful to you.
Professional
With over 10 years of experience in the mental health field, I bring a strong foundation of professional training, clinical knowledge, and experience to my work. I am trained and informed in a variety of evidence-based approaches that can help identify barriers, navigate challenges, build practical skills, and support meaningful progress toward your goals.
LICSW Clinical Therapist
With over 10 years of experience in mental health services, I have had the opportunity to work in both community mental health and private practice, supporting teens, adults, and families. These experiences have allowed me to work alongside people from many different backgrounds, lived experiences, and walks of life who have faced a wide range of challenges and mental health concerns.
My approach to therapy is person-centered, meaning I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is not to tell you how to live it, but to create a supportive and collaborative space where we can better understand what you are experiencing, identify what matters to you, and work toward meaningful change.
Within this person-centered approach, I draw from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to provide practical skills and strategies tailored to each person's individual needs. My clinical work is also informed by a trauma- and shame-informed perspective, recognizing how our experiences can shape the ways we think, feel, relate to others, and respond to the world around us.
I believe a strong therapeutic relationship can create space for growth, reflection, and change. Whether therapy involves navigating a difficult season of life, developing new coping skills, improving relationships, processing past experiences, or addressing ongoing mental health concerns, we work together toward goals that are meaningful to you.
Who I Serve
I do not limit my practice to one specific population or presenting concern. Instead, I take an individualized approach to determining whether my experience, therapeutic style, and clinical approach are a good fit for you or your family's needs.
Children & Teens
Supporting young people as they navigate emotions, anxiety, depression, relationships, family changes, identity, school stressors, and the challenges that come with growing up.Adults
Working with adults across different stages of life who may be navigating mental health concerns, relationships, life transitions, stress, past experiences, or simply looking to better understand themselves and develop healthier ways of coping.Families
Supporting families experiencing changes, conflict, communication difficulties, parenting challenges, or other circumstances that may be impacting relationships and the overall family system.
Finding the Right Fit
I believe effective therapy begins with finding the right therapeutic fit. Rather than assuming that every therapist is right for every person, I work collaboratively with prospective clients to understand what brings them to therapy, what they hope to gain from the process, and whether my approach aligns with their needs.
When another provider, specialty, or level of care may be better suited to those needs, I believe it is equally important to recognize that and help identify an appropriate direction for care.
Professional Coaching
Professional Coaching
Sometimes you are not looking for therapy—you are looking for direction, accountability, and a space to figure out what comes next.
Professional coaching provides a collaborative and goal-focused environment for individuals who want to make meaningful changes in their personal, professional, or academic lives. Rather than focusing on the diagnosis or treatment of mental health concerns, coaching focuses on identifying where you are now, where you would like to go, and the steps that can help you move forward.
My coaching approach is person-centered, practical, and individualized. I believe you bring your own strengths, experiences, and understanding of your life to the coaching process. My role is to help you clarify your goals, identify barriers, explore possibilities, and develop realistic strategies for making progress.
Coaching vs. Therapy
Professional coaching is not psychotherapy and does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions. While my experience as a mental health professional informs how I communicate and work with people, coaching services remain separate from clinical therapy.
We will work together to determine whether coaching is appropriate for your goals or whether your needs may be better supported through therapy or another professional service.
